BHOLA, June 29, 2025 (BSS)- The ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has given permission for gas supply to facilitate installing fertilizer factory in Bhola.

Joint secretary of the ministry Morsheda Ferdous in a letter to the energy and mineral resources division on June 18 asked for giving gas supply for fertilizer production.

It would be possible to supply 40-45 million cubic feet gas supply per day for fertilizer production for 18 years from Bhola gas field.

Although six other fertilizer factories in the country are experiencing shortage of gas supply, but fertilizer factories in Bhola would not need any gas supply form other gas field, said deputy secretary of the Planning Commission Saiful Islam.

General Secretary of Bhola development forum M Zahirul Haq said the government has agreed for supplying gas for fertilizer factories in Bhola after being assured of long term gas supply from Bhola gas field.

Bhola will have fertilizer factory very soon, might be under public or private initiative. Government is communicating with the large companies for this.

Deputy Commissioner of Bhola M Azad Jahan said they have already visited a number of prospective areas in the outskirt of the Bhola district for fertilizer factory.

Bhola district will witness a tremendous development spree if gas-based factories including one of fertilizer are established, he said.
