4 including ringleader of fraud gang arrested for cheating people

DHAKA, June 29, 2025(BSS) - The members of the law enforcing agencies arrested four people including their ringleader, who were cheating people identifying them as ACC officials, from the city last night.

A high resolution camera, boom, selfi-stick, passports, name cards, cheque books, six mobile sets and 13 SIM cards were recovered from their possessions after the arrest.

The arrested persons including the ringleader Selim used to cheat people alluring them to get rid of from the cases with the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) personifying them as ACC Chairman, Director General (DG) and other high officials. 

Director General (DG) Prevention of the ACC Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the information to the media at a briefing at the commission’s headquarters here.

During the briefing, DG Akhter Hossain said that a facebook status of Hasnat Abdullah, Principal  Organizer (South) of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has been drawn the attention of the ACC. 

The ACC decided to invest into the allegation made by Hasnat Abdullah and formed a five-member probe committee headed by a director of the commission. 

The committee identified the gang and arrested them from the city last night.

The arrested persons are-Md Selim,40, son of Abdus Sattar Kabir, Badalkhali in Pirozpur and at present house-26, road-3, block-b, Green Model Town under Mughda Thana, Md Tariqul Islam,40, son of Md Mujibar Rahman Sheikh of Keshrampur village under Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district who resides at 878 Hiru Miah Road under Manda Thana, Md Atik,38, son of Md Abul Kashem of 448 South Manda under Mudga Thana and Abdul Hay Sohag,35, son of Abdur Rab of 448 South Mugda and hailed from Shayestha Nagar village under Senbagh Thana of Noakhali district.

The ACC has already lodged a case against the arrested persons.
