Police recover 3,000 pieces of Yaba, one arrested

DHAKA, June 30, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 3,000 pieces of Yaba from his possession during a drive in the city's Jatrabari area last night.

The arrestee was identified as Nur Johar.

Acting on a tip-off that a person carrying Yaba tablets was stationed near the Sayedabad Hujurbari Gate area adjacent to RK College, a team from the DB Gulshan Division conducted a drive in the area around 9pm.

The team arrested Nur Johar from in front of Labiba Classic Limited bus counter and seized 3,000 pieces of Yaba from his possession, according to a press release issued today by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

A regular case was filed against him with Jatrabari Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the DB, Nur Johar had long been involved in selling Yaba tablets in the capital after bringing them from Cox's Bazar using various methods.
