5 frauds remanded for demanding bribe posing as ACC officials

DHAKA, June 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed five members of an alleged fraud gang, on a two-day remand each in a case lodged for demanding bribe and trying to extort money from innocent civilians, posing as officials of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The remanded accused are Selim, 40, Md Tarikul Islam, 40, Md Atik, 38, Md Abdul Hai Sohagh, 35, and Md Sohagh Patwari, 40.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each in the case. 

The ACC on June 28 detained four accused from the Mugda area of the capital, and following information gathered from them in the primary interrogation, detained Md Sohagh Patwari with assistance from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

ACC Assistant Director Sazzad Hossain filed the case with Ramna Police Station.
