Khulna student bodies to mark July Uprising with month-long events

KHULNA, June 30, 2025 (BSS) - Several student organizations in Khulna today (Monday) announced a month-long series of programmes to commemorate the anniversary of the historic July Mass Uprising.

Abdullah-Al-Safin of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (Khulna) made the announcement on behalf of the organizations at a press conference held at Khulna Press Club this noon.
 
During the press conference, they paid tribute to the memory of the July events and unveiled a 36-day programme schedule, beginning July 1.

The participating organizations include: Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (One Fraction), Red July, July Revolutionary Alliance, Justice for July, Inquilab Mancha, UP Bangladesh, Rongmoshal, and PUSAB.

As part of the initiative, the organizations will carry out a diverse range of programmes including preservation of graffiti, poster campaigns, documentary screenings on the July Uprising, blood donation drives, free health camps, commemorative and doa mahfil events for the martyrs, essay and art competitions on the July Uprising, and seminars at educational institutions.

Additional activities will include street dramas, song and poem recitations, installation of a July Uprising monument foundation stone, terracotta works commemorating the movement, photo campaigns, education week at institutions, campaigns on Idle District Khulna, student-youth conferences, and mass hearings of those injured or oppressed during the July-August events in Khulna.

An exhibition titled 'July Theke Jege Otha' and a separate programme called 'Demand Justice, Not for Politicization' will also be held. Posters and festoons will be distributed across Khulna from July 1 to August 5 to raise awareness of the movement's historical significance.

A photography and graffiti exhibition featuring key moments from the July Uprising will take place in Khulna city and other parts of the district.
