AL leader Shahidullah held over attack on July uprising protest

DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Monday arrested an Awami League (AL) 
leader for his alleged link to attack an anti-discrimination student movement 
in the capital's Motijheel area.

The arrestee was identified as Shahidullah Chowdhury Shaheen,57, former 
assistant secretary of Dhaka South City Jubo League and former general 
secretary of Fulbaria Bus Terminal Shramik League. 

A squad of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) arrested 
Shahidullah in an operation conducted at Motijheel's Jasim Uddin Road area 
around 4 pm on Monday. 

The arrested Shahidullah Chowdhury was an accused in two murder cases linked 
to the mass July uprising. 

He was handed over to Mirpur Model Police Station.
