Fugitive rape case accused held in Netrokona

DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - Police early today arrested a fugitive accused in 
a case filed for raping a schoolgirl after abduction from Durgapur Thana area 
of Netrokona district.  
 
The detainee has been identified as Md uzzal Islam alias Abdullah Al Kawsar 
alias Kawsar, 22, son of Koushik Mia of Boiratoli Village under Durgapur 
Police Station in Netrokona district.
 
A squad of the Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) arrested Kawsar in a raid conducted 
in Boiratoli area under Durgapur Police Station in Netrokona district around 
3.15 am today, said a police press release.
 
The detained Kawsar earlier on February 29 in 2024 raped a schoolgirl aged 14 
after kidnapping her in Nalitabari Thana area in Sherpur district.
 
A rape case was registered with Nalitabari Police Station in this connection.

Kawsar was in Sherpur jail in the case which is now under trial at Women and 
Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Sherpur district.
 
He fled the jail on August 6 in 2024 after taking the advantage of the attack 
on the Sherpur jail.
