ACC sued SBAC Bank staffs for embezzling Tk 10.5 lakh, USD 3000

KHULNA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against two staffs of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce (SBAC) Bank PLC of Khulna branch on charges of embezzling Tk 10.5 lakh and USD 3,000 from the bank’s vault.

The accused are identified as Cash-in-charge Muhammad Junnurain Siddiqui alias Tanvir and support staff S M Muhaiminul Islam alias Mithu.

According to ACC sources here today, the case was filed yesterday (Wednesday) at the Integrated District Office by Assistant Director Md. Mohsin Ali.

Quoting the case statement, Mohsin Ali said that a surprise inspection by Bangladesh Bank’s Khulna regional office revealed discrepancies in the vault’s reserve of local and foreign currency. 

Subsequent ACC investigation confirmed that the two bank staffs had misappropriated the funds for personal use.
