DHAKA, Aug 29, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Professor Mia Golam Parwar today urged the interim government to bring these persons who were involved with enforced disappearances under the law and give them exemplary punishment.

“We hope that the present interim government finds out the enforced disappearance persons quickly and returned them to their families and bring the accused persons who were involved with the evil offences to book”, he said.

The Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general made this call in a statement ahead of the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30.

“The International Day of the Disappeared is being observed every year on August 30 since 2011… we are remembering these persons who were the victims of enforced disappearance and also conveying sympathy to their families,” said the Jamaat leader in the statement.

A good number of people became the victims of enforced disappearance by the autocratic rulers in various countries in the present civilized world, he said, adding that Bangladesh is not the exception to it.

More than 700 people of different professions including the leaders and activists of the opposition political parties were the victims of enforced disappearances during the regime of fascist Sheikh Hasina, he said quoting national and international humanitarian organizations as saying.
