KHULNA, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a discussion here today stressed that journalists must be allowed to work freely to shape the country's future. They also noted that the ideals of the 2024 July Uprising should be uphold to inspire the nation.

Khulna Press Club (KPC) hosted the discussion titled "July Uprising: Media and the Future of Bangladesh" at its office, marking the first anniversary of the 2024 July Uprising.

The discussants, however, observed that the July Uprising gained momentum largely due to the constant media coverage of public sentiment.

They urged journalists to remain vigilant against rumors and be cautious of those who once supported the authoritarian regimes.

KPC Convener Enamul Haque presided over the event with Member Secretary Rafiul Islam Tutul moderating the programme.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Prof. Mia Golam Parwar and BNP's National Executive Committee Information Affairs Secretary Azizur Bari Helal, among others, addressed the discussion.

The discussion began by observing one minute silence in memory of July martyrs and concluded with special prayers for the departed souls.
