'Swatantra Angikar Parishad' panel announced ahead of JUCSU polls

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - An eight-member panel titled 
'Swatantra Angikar Parishad' has been announced to contest eight posts in the 
upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) election, 
scheduled for September 11.

The announcement was made on Saturday around 5:30 pm in front of the Faculty 
of Arts and Humanities, university sources said.

According to the declaration, Md Mahfuzul Islam Megh, a 47th batch student of 
Environmental Science and spokesperson of Jahangirnagar Sangskrittik Jote, 
has been nominated as Vice-President (VP) candidate of the panel.

Besides, Md Nazmul Islam will vie for the post of Joint General Secretary 
(Male), Syeda Meher Afroze Shaoleen for Education and Research Secretary, 
Shahidul Islam Shimul for Literature and Publication Secretary, Sadia Rahman 
Mohona for Cultural Secretary, Sheikh Al Imran for Assistant Cultural 
Secretary, Tapu Chandra Das for Drama Secretary and Shashwata PK for 
Transport and Communication Secretary.

The last JUCSU election was held way back in 1992. This year a total of 
11,919 students - 6,102 males and 5,817 females are eligible to cast their 
votes in the polls.
