KISHOREGANJ, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) – A record Taka 12 crore has been found in donation boxes at the Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj.

In addition, a huge amount of foreign currency and gold ornaments have been found. 

The 14 donation boxes of the mosque were opened on Saturday morning, after 4 months and 18 days.  A record 32 sacks of taka were found. 

Later, the work of counting the money started on the second floor of the mosque complex. The counting continued throughout the day. 

Deputy Commissioner and president of the Pagla Mosque Management Committee Fouzia Khan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, Ameer of District Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Md. Ramzan Ali were present at the time. 

After the counting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mijabe Rahmat confirmed the information. Earlier, a record Taka 9.17 crore 80 thousand was found from 11 donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque on April 12.

According to the mosque management committee, the money received from the mosque's donations was spent on various social welfare activities, including the related mosque, various mosques, madrasas and orphanages in the district. An initiative has been taken to build a beautiful Islamic complex of international standards in the mosque. 

Its work will start soon. It will be named 'Pagla Mosque Islamic Complex'. The initial cost of its construction has been estimated at Taka 115 crore. Around 60 thousand worshippers will be able to offer prayers there together.
