DHAKA, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - The European Union (EU) today launched the first-ever EU Twinning Project in Bangladesh, a 2 million euro initiative aimed at enhancing efficiency, independence and transparency of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG) through partnership with Poland's Supreme Audit Institution (NIK).

The three-year project was formally inaugurated in Dhaka by Comptroller and
Auditor General of Bangladesh Md Nurul Islam, President of Poland's Supreme
Audit Institution Marian Banas, and EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael
Miller.

A Resident Twinning Adviser from Poland has already joined in Dhaka to begin the cooperation.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the EU said that the project would focus on strengthening financial, performance and IT audits, which will help ensure that Bangladesh's public funds are utilized more efficiently, effectively and transparently.

According to project details, the initiative will build capacity in areas
critical to Bangladesh's development, such as financial oversight, risk
management, and digital audit practices. It also seeks to contribute to a
