CDRT completes joint exercise to deal with chemical disasters

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Chemical Disaster Response Team (CDRT) formed by the Armed Forces completed today a two-day joint exercise to enhance its skills deal with chemical disasters. 
  
The exercise was organized on September 1 and 2 at Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD), Purbachal, Narayanganj under the management of Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) and with the assistance of FSCD. 

A total of 170 individuals including trainers, trainees and training assistants participated in the exercise, said an ISPR press release.

In the two-day joint exercise, trainers from FSCD, Bangladesh Police and BNACWC provided training on important topics. 

In addition, practical training was provided by FSCD to deal with chemical disasters or accidents.

Member Secretary of BNACWC, Commodore Mohammad Mohabbat Ali was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the two-day joint exercise. 

He stressed the need for the CDRT to ensure that the partners are aware of each other's capabilities and procedures and work together continuously to respond quickly to any accident or disaster caused by Bangladesh Chemical Warfare Agent (CWA). 

At the end of the training, the chief guest distributed certificates among the trainees.
