Awareness campaign held against polythene, plastic usage

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - A campaign titled "Using Alternatives to Polythene and Plastic" was held today to raise awareness about the environmental harm caused by polythene use.

The campaign, which included a rally followed by a youth gathering, was held as part of 'Tarunyer Utsob-2025' in the Agargaon administrative area.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ezaz joined the rally as the chief guest with the Department of Environment's (DoE) managing director Dr Mohmaad Kamruzzaman in the chair, a DoE notification said.

Flying a kite, DNCC administrator inaugurated the event where participant showed different placards urging environmental safety.

Through the event, the organizers made appeal to the citizen to avoid using polyethene and plastic made products and use alternatives instead.

Several leading production companies, foundations, students from school and colleges took part in the rally.
