BR fines Tk 2.84 lakh from 4,897 passengers

DHAKA, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Railway (BR) realized over Tk 2.84 lakh in fines after detecting 4,897 passengers travelling without tickets during inspections on 209 inter-city trains across the country on Monday.

The information was disclosed today on BR's verified Facebook page.

A total of 101 ticket examiners (TTEs) carried out operations in the eastern region, where they found 1,971 passengers without valid tickets on 76 inter-district trains. During the drive, BR collected more than Tk 4.27 lakh in fares and charged over Tk 1.27 lakh in fines.

In the western region, TTEs detected 2,926 ticketless passengers on 108 inter-district trains. They collected over Tk 3.55 lakh in fares and imposed fines amounting to more than Tk 1.57 lakh during the operation.
