Country remembering Khaleda Zia's contributions, praying for her: Tuku

SIRAJGANJ, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku today said people across the country are praying for the swift recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia, recalling with deep respect her long-standing contributions to Bangladesh's democratic movement.

"People nationwide are earnestly praying for her good health with profound gratitude for her sacrifices," he said before a prayer gathering held after Zuhr prayers at Sirajganj Central Jame Mosque here.

Tuku said, "The three-time former Prime Minister, former Leader of the Opposition, and BNP Chairperson played an unforgettable role in the country's pro-democracy struggles. News of the deterioration in Begum Zia's health has 
caused widespread concern."

"When reports of her worsening condition spread, people across the nation became deeply worried and began praying sincerely for her recovery," he added.

BNP National Executive Committee member and Sirajganj district BNP General Secretary Md Sayedur Rahman Bachchu also prayed for the former prime minister's speedy recovery.

Following the recitation of Fatiha and Darood Sharif, special prayers were offered seeking Begum Khaleda Zia's quick recovery and the wellbeing of the nation. 

Mufti Hafez Maulana Abdullah, Khatib and Pesh Imam of the Sirajganj Central Jame Mosque, led the munajat.

A large number of worshippers attended the prayer gathering, many of whom were seen moved to tears.
