444 sacks illegally stored fertilizer recovered in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - Police recovered 444 sacks of illegally stored fertilizer from the house of a Swechhasebak League leader at Dangachhi village under Bagmara upazila in the district last night.

On a tip-off, officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and police conducted a sudden raid in the house and recovered 200 sacks of TSP, 200 sacks of DAP and 44 sacks of MOP fertilizer around 11.30 pm.
 
Waresh Ali, 35, vice-president of No Ward: 4 of Bhabaniganj Pourasabha, is the owner of the fertilizer. He remained absconding since the recovery of the goods.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdur Razzaque told BSS that Waresh Ali is a fertilizer retailer but he has no authority of storing fertilizer in his residence.
 
Towhidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, said a case was recorded in this connection and the house has been sealed.
