
DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) – Police’s anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a kidnapped HSIA cargo village cleaning supervisor and arrested his suspected abductors from Dakshinkhan area in the capital, the anti-crime force said in a statement today.
According to the statement a RAB-1 team yesterday rescued 45-year-old Abdur Rahman, a cleaning supervisor of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s (HSIA) Cargo Village, in a raid when they arrested four people including a woman, as they are presumably members of a kidnappers’ gang.
The arrested suspects are: Md Iqbal Mahbub Shuvo, 28, Shieuli Akhter, 40, Abul Hashem, 49, and Md Habib Sarkar, 55.
Abducted Rahman’s sister-in-law earlier filed a kidnapping case with Airport Police Station as they abductors demanded 100,000 as ransom from the family threatening otherwise they would kill him.
The statement said RAB’s intelligence surveillance led to the development.
It said RAB-1 on January 21 Uttara-based RAB-1 operation team received a tip off about the location of the kidnappers and their prey at Kalil Box Road under Dakshinkhan Police Station raided a house there at about 20:15pm.
The family, the statement said, however, sent abductors Taka 70,000 on January 21, 2026 through bKash.
RAB said Rahman left his house on the morning of January 20 as usual and went to his work place and on evening same day the abductors lifted him from Airport Road took him to a house at Ashkona Unchartek under Dakshinkhan Police Station and detained him.
