Fire at Old Dhaka shoe factory brought under control

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS) - A fire that broke out at a shoe factory in a multi-storey building in Old Dhaka tonight was brought under control after around an hour of frantic efforts by firefighters.

The blaze erupted at approximately 10:45pm at a shoe factory located on the fourth floor of a seven-storey building on Agamasi Lane, Aga Sadek Road, according to Talha bin Zasim of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) media office.

Three firefighting units rushed to the scene shortly after the incident and brought the blaze under control at around 11:35pm.

Thick smoke was seen billowing from the upper floors as firefighters worked to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent levels.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
