
RAJSHAHI, March 13, 2026 (BSS)- Ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, law enforcement agencies in Rajshahi have taken additional security measures to maintain law and order and ensure safe and smooth travel for people returning home for the festival.
Police surveillance has been increased at important roads, bus terminals, railway stations, and other crowded areas in the city.
Deputy Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, Gaziur Rahman, disclosed the information on Thursday.
He said that the law and order situation in Rajshahi has improved due to the strong activities of the police.
Regular drives and surveillance have significantly reduced crimes such as snatching and extortion.
Additional police personnel will be deployed at key locations, including bus terminals and railway stations in the city during Eid.
Alongside uniformed police, plainclothes officers, intelligence members, and SWAT police are also on duty.
Gaziur Rahman added that police members are working tirelessly to ensure a comfortable Eid journey for travelers.
Through collective cooperation and coordination, it will be possible to minimize potential suffering during the Eid travel rush.
He also said that security measures around Eid prayer congregations will be ensured and mobile courts have been strengthened to prevent the collection of excessive transport fares.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police Sabina Yasmin said that extra police personnel have been deployed at eight police stations under Rajshahi District Police.
She said that police patrols and surveillance have been increased at important roads, bus stands, markets, and other crowded places in the district ahead of Eid.
Sabina Yasmin added that special monitoring is being carried out on highways and regional roads to ensure uninterrupted travel for homebound people.
Police are conducting regular drives to prevent incidents such as snatching, extortion, or overcharging of fares during Eid.
Surveillance on suspicious individuals and activities has also been intensified. She urged the public to promptly inform the nearest police station if they notice any crime or suspicious activity.
District police officials said that alongside police efforts, cooperation from the local administration and the general public is also important to maintain law and order during Eid.
They expressed hope that through collective efforts, people will be able to celebrate Eid in a peaceful and safe environment.
