
CHANDPUR, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Former Member of Parliament (MP) from Chandpur-3 constituency GM Fazlul Haque, also district BNP leader, laid to rest today after the second namaz-e-janaza at 11 am at Baburhat School and College ground in Chandpur Sadar Upazila here.
Mufti Faruk Ahmed, the khatib and imam of Baburhat Jame Mosque, conducted the namaz-e-janaza at about 11 am, where a large number of religious Muslims and party leaders and activists attended there.
Later, he was buried next to the Haque Mahal Mosque, the deceased's house in Baburhat Bazar.
Earlier, in a brief memorial speech on behalf of the deceased’s family, Engineer Mominul Haque, MP, Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, MP, MA Hannan, MP, District BNP General Secretary Advocate Salimullah Selim and deceased’s youngest son Barrister Ziaul Haque Jiku spoke there.
They praised the contributions and work of the deceased in his colorful political and social life. They also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Fazlul Haque.
Earlier, the first namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Complex on Wednesday at 12 noon.
The former BNP MP passed away at around 6:30 pm on March 17 while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital.
He had been suffering from age-related diseases for a long time and had been receiving treatment at home and abroad.
