State Minister Razib inaugurates canal excavation in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI, March 22, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping and Bridges Md. Razib Ahsan has inaugurated the re-excavation work of a canal in Rajapur upazila of the district.

The inauguration took place this morning at Tulatuli in the Angaria area of the upazila, where the state minister unveiled a plaque and officially started the excavation work himself.

Under the Small-Scale Water Resources Management Project, a 3.5-kilometer canal will be excavated at a cost of Taka 11,114,367. The project will be implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

Razib Ahsan said re-excavation of canals will help ensure quick and timely drainage of water, protect crops from waterlogging, and bring more land under cultivation.

BNP central religious affairs secretary and MP Rafiqul Islam Jamal, Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin, Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Shahadat Hossain and Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman, among others, also addressed the programme.
