DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS)- Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Abdul Awal Mintoo has expressed profound grief and shock at the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram).

In a condolence message, the Minister said, "Professor Begum Dilara Hafiz was a noble educationist. She served with dedication and distinction in various important positions in the country's education sector. Her educational and social welfare activities inspired many people and had a positive impact on society."

He prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.

Begum Dilara Hafiz, former Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and former Principal of Eden Women's College, passed away today while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
