DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - Islami Andolon Bangladesh has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram).

In a condolence message today, party spokesperson and Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

He said Dilara Hafiz was a learned teacher, adding that with her passing, the country has lost a distinguished educationist.

At the same time, Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Charmonai Pir also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased.

Dilara Hafiz, a former Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and former Principal of Eden Mohila College, passed away today at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
