CMP to show zero tolerance against drug, extortion

CHATTOGRAM, April 2, 2026 (BSS)- New Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali has said the force will adopt zero tolerance policy against drug and extortionists.
 
The CMP commissioner said this during an exchange of views with journalists today, a day after his taking over charge.

The function was held at the conference room of Dampara Police Line in the city this afternoon. 

Highlighting the importance of port city Chattogram the commissioner said the city must free from the menace of drug and all unlawful activities. 

“We will give priority to establishing a peaceful society so that people do not feel insecurity,” he said.

Negligence of duties in serving people will not be tolerated, he said adding that any police personnel to be found involved in illegal and immoral activities will be punished.

The CMP Commissioner said police will soon launch special drive against illegal drug peddlers, snatchers and juvenile gangs.
