DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - World Bank Country Director Jean Pesme has visited the 6.05 MWp rooftop solar project of GPH Ispat Limited as part of reviewing progress in Bangladesh’s clean energy sector.

He visited the project yesterday along with a senior management team from the World Bank.

This rooftop solar installation, one of the largest in the country’s industrial sector, has been implemented with financing from Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL).

During the visit, IDCOL’s Executive Director and CEO Alamgir Morshed, Head of Renewable Energy Department Md Enamul Karim Pavel, and other senior officials were present.

At the time, World Bank Country Director Jean Pesme emphasized the importance of coordinated collaboration among development partners to accelerate sustainable development.

On the other hand, IDCOL Executive Director and CEO Alamgir Morshed reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding renewable energy financing in the country, highlighting the need to increase investment in the rooftop solar sector.

IDCOL has long been playing a leading role in developing the country’s renewable energy sector by financing solar home systems, mini-grids, and utility-scale solar projects.
