CHATTOGRAM, April 5, 2026 (BSS) – Patiya Thana Police in the district have detained a person on charges of cheating by impersonating a government official. 

The arrested person has been identified as Riyad Selim.

Acting on information from higher authorities, Patiya Circle Additional Superintendent of Police conducted a raid and arrested Riyad Bin Selim, son of Md. Selim Uddin, from their residence in Ward No. 6 of Patiya Municipality at around 2 am.

Police also seized an ID card bearing the photograph of the suspect, in the name “Riyed Salim,” inscribed in English as “Chairperson Security Force (CSF). 

Additional Superintendent of Police (Patiya Circle) Numan Ahmad told BSS that the arrested suspect had been misleading and deceiving people by sharing photos on his Facebook account under the name “Lion Riyadh Selim,” posting various pictures with influential individuals.

The detained fraudster is also accused in several cases filed with Akbar Shah Thana and Chandgaon Thana under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), under the Narcotics Control Act and the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, police said.
