20 farmers to get air flow machines to preserve onion in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) will soon distribute air flow machines among farmers to help preserve onion, a highly perishable crop.

According to the DAE office, 20 farmers in the district will receive the machines as incentives. Each farmer will get one air flow machine along with Tk 28,000 in cash to upgrade onion storage facilities.

Around 300 maunds of onion can be preserved for up to nine months using the air flow machines. To implement the programme, the government has allocated Tk 5,60,000 for the district.

Under the programme, seven farmers each in Jamalpur Sadar and Islampur upazilas will receive the machines, while two farmers in Dewanganj upazila and one farmer each in Sarishabari, Melandah, Madarganj and Bakshiganj upazilas will get the machine.

The DAE office said the incentives will be distributed among the farmers soon.
