
DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,790 cases against traffic law violators during a citywide drive across the capital.
The drive was conducted on Wednesday across different areas of Dhaka to ensure traffic discipline.
Deputy Commissioner, Media and Public Relations Division, DMP, NM Nasiruddin confirmed the matter.
In Ramna Division, 101 cases were filed involving 2 buses, 1 truck, 7 covered vans, 22 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 39 motorcycles.
In Lalbagh Division, 164 cases were filed against 3 buses, 7 trucks, 1 covered van, 30 CNGs, and 87 motorcycles.
The Motijheel Division recorded the highest number with 461 cases, including 12 buses, 3 trucks, 20 covered vans, 162 CNGs, and 205 motorcycles.
In Wari Division, 232 cases were filed involving 30 buses, 28 trucks, 24 covered vans, 27 CNGs, and 56 motorcycles.
Tejgaon Division filed 208 cases involving 15 buses, 5 trucks, 8 covered vans, 34 CNGs, and 108 motorcycles.
Mirpur Division recorded 289 cases with 15 buses, 9 trucks, 16 covered vans, 50 CNGs, and 139 motorcycles.
Uttara Division filed 210 cases involving 25 buses, 1 truck, 10 covered vans, 24 CNGs, and 76 motorcycles.
Gulshan Division filed 125 cases involving 36 buses, 4 covered vans, 3 CNGs, and 27 motorcycles.
During the drive, a total of 384 vehicles were dumped and 140 vehicles were towed.
The DMP stated that such drives will continue to maintain order on the city's roads.
