DHAKA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - The government is providing student loans on easy terms to support Bangladeshi students seeking higher education in Japan, said Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali today.
The envoy was speaking at a seminar titled "Growth of Bangladeshi Students: Prospects and Challenges" held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo with support from the Bangladesh Students Support Association in Japan (BSSAJ), according to a message received here.
Bangladesh Ambassador said that the expanding student exchange has added a new dimension to bilateral relations between the two countries.
He noted that the number of Bangladeshi students in Japan has increased from 5,000 to 25,000 over the past four years, reflecting growing mutual trust and cooperation.
The ambassador said Bangladeshi students are making notable contributions to Japan's skilled labour market through their talent, discipline and adaptability.
He also said coordinated efforts by the embassy and Bangladesh Bank have simplified tuition fee payment processes for students.
Referring to Bangladesh's participation in the "Specified Skilled Worker" programme, he described it as a sustainable win-win partnership contributing to the economic and social development of both countries.
He thanked Japanese language institutions for their continued support and called for further cooperation to strengthen academic and professional linkages.
Among others, BSSAJ President Nagamatsu Faruk, General Secretary Md Nazrul Islam and Japanese Language Proficiency Test Committee representative Nishio Ryo, along with principals of various language schools, attended the seminar.
An open discussion and networking session followed, focusing on future avenues of cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.
