Tarique Siddique's personal staffers remanded in uprising killing case

DHAKA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed two personal staffers of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's former Defence and Security Adviser 
Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, on a four-day remand each in a case lodged over killing of trader Abdul Wadud during the July Mass Uprising.

The remanded accused are- Tarique's driver Md Mohidul Islam and caretaker of his house Md Chan Miah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam passed the order as police 
produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day 
remand each in the case.

Police arrested Mohidul from Thakurgaon and Chan from the capital's 
Bhashantek area on April 19.

According to the case records, Abdul Wadud was shot dead on July 19, 2024, at Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station during the anti-discrimination 
students' movement. The case was filed by the victim's brother-in-law Abdur 
Rob.

The case named 130 accused including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
