Second day of voting in Dhaka Bar Association polls begins

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - The second day of voting in the two-day election to the executive committee of the Dhaka Bar Association for the 2026-2027 term began at 9:00am today.

A total of 2,759 out of 21,731 eligible members cast their ballots on April 29. "The polling started at 9am and will continue until 5pm, with a one-hour break from 1pm to 2pm," Dhaka Bar Chief Election Commissioner Alhajj Md Borhan Uddin told BSS.

Pro-BNP lawyers from the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel are contesting under the Blue Panel, while candidates backed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami are running under the Green Panel for 23 posts.

From the BNP-backed Blue Panel, Md Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan is contesting for president and Mohammad Abul Kalam Khan for general secretary.

From the Jamaat-backed Green Panel, SM Kamal Uddin is contesting for president and Md Abu Bakar for general secretary.
