One foreign revolver, 55 rounds of ammunition seized in Pallabi

DHAKA, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police have recovered one foreign revolver and 55 rounds of ammunition during a drive in the capital's Pallabi area.

According to a police press release, a team conducted the raid at Section-12 areas of Pallabi Police Station area, based on information provided by a remand prisoner, Md Shafiqul Islam Rony, also known as "Brinda Rony."

During the operation, police recovered a Brazilian-made revolver along with five rounds of bullets, as well as 50 rounds of Chinese rifle ammunition.

Police said that the arrested suspect, known locally as "shooter Brinda Rony," was previously detained in connection with a shooting incident that took place on March 21 at around 9:40 pm. 

He, along with accomplices identified as "Picchi Babu" and "Boro Lokman," allegedly fired two rounds of gunshots in front of the Rose Garden building on the road leading to Alinagar in Pallabi.

The suspects were identified through video footage, and a case was filed against three individuals at Pallabi Police Station. 

Based on Rony's statement during remand, the firearm and ammunition were recovered.

Police further said the accused has multiple cases against him, including one under the Arms Act, one for preparation for robbery, and another related to narcotics. An additional robbery case is currently under investigation.

After completion of his remand, the accused has been sent to court. 

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects and take further legal action.
