10 AL and affiliated activists arrested from city’s Dhanmondi area

DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 10 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations during an operation in city’s Dhanmondi area.

According to police, the arrests were made in the early hours of today from the Satmasjid Road area under Dhanmondi Police Station while they were preparing to bring out a sudden procession.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division Niaz Mehedi confirmed the information.

The arrested individuals are - Md. Ibadul Islam (21), Milon Barai (20), Md. Sujon Sardar (26), Sabuj Dhali (28), Nipun Biswas (29), Samu Dhali (28), Ashok Dhali (30), Md. Sourav Howladar (23), Md. Joy (28) and Mahbub Howladar (40).

The press release stated that they were detained following intelligence reports. Police recovered 15 caps bearing the Jubo League monogram, eight T-shirts featuring leaders’ photos and a banner from their possession.

Two buses and a private car used by the detainees were also seized from the area, the ADC said, adding that the arrested individuals have been sent to court.
