DHAKA, July 13, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has directed police officers to discharge their duties with professionalism and impartiality.

“Maintaining law and order requires every member of the force to perform their assigned responsibilities effectively,” he said.

Speaking at the DMP's monthly crime review meeting for June 2026 at the DMP Headquarters today, the commissioner said criminals have no political affiliation, ideology or social identity.

“Police must serve the public without favouring any individual, group or political party,” he said.

He instructed officers to intensify regular drives against illegal firearms, muggers, drug traffickers and extortionists, and to remain vigilant to prevent crime within their respective police station jurisdictions.

The DMP chief also said police personnel demonstrating outstanding performance would be rewarded, while strict disciplinary action would be taken against those found negligent, violating discipline or engaging in conduct that tarnishes the image of the police force.

Expressing optimism, Ahmed said the collective efforts of all officers would further strengthen DMP's ability to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the capital.

During the meeting, the DMP commissioner presented awards to officers of different ranks in recognition of their outstanding contributions to law enforcement, crime prevention and public safety in Dhaka during June.

The meeting was attended by senior DMP officials, including additional commissioners, joint commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and officers-in-charge of all police stations under the metropolitan police.
