NARSINGDI, July 17, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Ghulam Parwar today said Jamaat-e-Islami supports friendly and fair relations with all neighbouring countries in line with Bangladesh's national interest.
"Bangladesh's interest gets priority to Jamaat. We support friendly and fair relations with all neighbouring countries in line with Bangladesh's national interest," Parwar said while responding to questions from journalists after addressing the party's members' (Rukon) conference as the chief guest at the Narsingdi Shishu Academy auditorium here.
He alleged that New Delhi exerts influence over Bangladesh's politics, economy, business, and cultural affairs.
He also alleged that India had violated the Geneva Conventions, prisoner exchange laws and other international legal norms by allowing a death-row convict to stay in Delhi and use various technological facilities.
Responding to a question about ousted Hasina, the Jamaat leader said the matter is currently before the International Crimes Tribunal and that the government and the court would decide the issue in accordance with the law.
He expressed hope that the outcome would reflect the expectations of the people.
Referring to what he called the "July Revolution," Parwar said the country is observing its second anniversary and claimed that the public still upholds its spirit. He further alleged that the people would never accept the return of what he described as "fascist forces."
Parwar claimed incidents of killing, torture and child rape have increased and alleged that the government's response to flood victims, including relief distribution, rescue and rehabilitation efforts, has been inadequate.
Narsingdi district Jamaat organiser Md Ibrahim Bhuiyan chaired the programme while, central executive council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, central working committee members Maulana A F M Abdus Sattar and Mashiul Alam, were present as special guests.
A workshop for the district's Rukon members was held before the conference.
