DHAKA, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS)- The High Court (HC) today granted bail to Bidisha Siddique, who was sentenced to imprisonment in a case filed over an allegation of fraud involving the sale of a flat.

The High Court Division bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Md Rafizul Islam passed the bail order.

Following the order, there is no legal bar to Bidisha's release, her lawyer said.

Lawyers Fazlur Rahman Khan and Masud Mia represented Bidisha during the hearing.

On May 20 last, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court sentenced Bidisha to two-year of rigorous imprisonment in the case involving an alleged fraudulent sale of a flat in the city's Baridhara area of Gulshan.

The court also fined her Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer one-month more in jail.

As Bidisha was absent in the court on the day of verdict, the court issued a warrant for her arrest to enforce the sentence.

Based on the warrant, she was arrested on August 25 last. The following day, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court headed by Magistrate Aminul Islam Junayed, rejected her bail petition and ordered to send her to jail.

Businessman Mosharraf Hossain filed the case against Bidisha on February 7, 2008.

Bidisha is the former wife of late HM Ershad, former president of Bangladesh and founding chairman of the Jatiya Party (JP).
