RANGAMATI, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - Rangamati district police today clarified that information circulating on social media about photos showing Bangladesh Police's Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) moving in various parts of the district is misleading.

In a media statement, the Rangamati Hill District Police said the APCs have been brought to Rangamati as part of preparations and training for personnel who are scheduled to go on a UN peacekeeping mission.

The training will be conducted at different locations in Rangamati district over the next 15 days, and the vehicles are expected to return to Dhaka after completion of the training, it said.

The district police clarified that the APCs were not permanently deployed in the district and were not brought there to deal with any special situation.

It urged everyone not to spread misleading information on social media and to verify facts before disseminating any information.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib told BSS that the vehicles have been brought to Rangamati for training.

"These vehicles will be used for training at several locations, including Sajek, Arshinagar and the Police Lines. There is nothing to be confused about. We urge people not to pay heed to rumours," he said.
