JCD JU unit organizes Shaheed Nafisa Women's Badminton Tournament

SAVAR, Feb 05, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit today launched a women's badminton tournament at the university campus.

In commemoration of  Nafisa Hossain, martyr of July uprising , it was named after "Shaheed Nafisa Women's Badminton Tournament-2025".

The inauguration ceremony of the tournament was held in front of the gymnasium of the university at around 6:00 pm.
Abu Afsan Mohammad Yehya, senior vice-president of the central executive committee of JCD inaugurated the tournament.

JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan addressed the function as the chief guest and President of JU JCD unit  Jahir Uddin Babor presided over the function.

JU VC praised the badminton tournament as a significant initiative, emphasizing the importance of constructive competition and practicing Major Ziaur Rahman's spirit for well-being of the masses.

About the purpose of the tournament, Jahir Uddin Babor said, "The contribution and participation of female students in the July uprising movement is undeniable. We have organized this tournament to commemorate the contribution of women and to protest against the attack on women's football tournament in Joypurhat."

The programme was moderated by member-secretary of JCD, JU unit   Wasif Ahmed Anik.
JU Proctor Prof AKM Rashidul Alam, teachers, leaders and activists of JCD, JU unit convening committee, were present, among others at the programme.
