DHAKA, Feb 7, 2025 (BSS) - Abahani Limited appointed Hannan Sarkar as their coach for the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

They revealed Hannan's appointment through a Facebook post from their official account on Friday.
“Our coach, our new hope. Welcome to onboard Hannan,” Abahani posted in their official account along with Hannan Sarkar’s photo.

Former Bangladesh opener Hannan has recently stepped down as national selector to return to coaching.
The 42-year-old was not new one in coaching career. He had already worked as a batting coach and assistant coach in domestic competitions, including the DPL, Bangladesh Cricket League and Bangladesh Premier League.

Hannan also served as a head coach for Dhaka Metro in the National Cricket League in 2014.
To appoint Hannan as coach, Abahani parted ways with their long standing coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon who had been at the helm since 2016.

Under the supervision of Sujon, Abahani won four DPL titles, including last year's title which they won by being undefeated throughout the competition.

Despite being successful in DPL, Sujon’s performance as coach in BPL has been poor of late. It was learnt he would take charge of the newly-promoted Gulshan Cricket Club for the upcoming season.
