Jasia, Sumaiya hit ton as Sumona takes 6-fer in WDPL

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS)- Overseas recruit Jasia Akhter hammered a brilliant 
century as Mohammedan whacked Bangladesh Ansar & VDP Women's Cricket team 
past by a gigantic 182-run margin in their third match of the Women's Dhaka 
Premier League (WDPL) today at ULAB Cricket Ground.

Jasia hammered a 92 ball-132 with 13 fours and eight sixes to steer 
Mohammedan to a mammoth 333-7. Rumana Ahmed made 45 and Sharmin Akter Supta 
scored 41 to give her ably support.

Later, thanks to captain Salma Khatun's 4-12 and Rumana's 3-23, Mohammedan 
skittled Ansar out for just 151 in 49.1 overs. Ismot Ara made team-best 50 
for Ansar.

It was Mohammedan's second victory in third match.

When Mohammedan won the game, their old foes Abahani Limited conceded a five-
wicket defeat to Gulshan Youth Club Women's team at BKSP-3 ground. By doing 
so, BKSP kept them unbeaten in the league after four matches.

Opting to bat first Abahani amassed 230-8 with Jannatula Ferdous Tithi 
leading the charge with 97. Captain Farzana Haque Pinky also made 66 to play 
a key role. But Gulshan overhauled the target in 48.5 overs, reaching 231-5. 
Ritu Moni hit an unbeaten 64 to lead the side to the victory.

Sheltech Cricket Academy Women's Cricket Team also remained unbeaten in the 
league after playing three matches. In their third match, they crushed 
Bangladesh Police Club Women's team by 219 runs, thanks to a blistering 
century of Sumaiya Akter at BSKP-1 ground.

Sumaiya struck 96 ball-111 not out with 13 fours as Sheltech racked up 312-3. 
Sharmin Sultana, however, missed out her ton by being out on 97.
 
Police Women's team was bowled out for just 93 in 36 overs, in the face of 
Janntul Ferdous Sumona's devastating bowling. Sumona had nice figure with 9-
1-24-6.

In the day's other match, BKSP recorded a 123-run victory over Kalabagan 
Krira Chakra Women's team in BKSP-4 ground.
