SIRAJGANJ, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS)-The U-16 boys’ and girls’
athletics and rural sports competition was held at the
Shaheed Shamsuddin Stadium on Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Nazrul Islam formally opened
the competition as the chief guest, presided by additional
deputy commissioner (general) Ganapati Roy under the
supervision of district sports officer Md. Noore Elahi.

Youth Development Department deputy director of Md. Shariful
Islam and Sirajganj Press Club president, Sirajganj district
sports association former general secretary Md. Harun or
Rashid Khan Hasan were present as special guests.

The boys’ events included 100m Run, 200m run, 400m run and
shot put (boys’ senior), 100m Run, 200m run and shot put
(boys’  middle) and  cock fight (boys’ small) while the
girls’ event included 100m run, 200m run and shot put
(girls’ senior), 100m run, 200m run 400m run and shot put
(girls’ middle), girls' jump rope competition, and ‘jemon
kushi temon sajo’.

Sirajganj district sports office organized the competition
under the annual sports program 2024-25 of the Department of
Sports.

A total of 85 students from 13 educational institutions and
one academy participated in the competition.

After the competition, deputy commissioner Mohammad Nazrul
Islam distributed prizes among the winners’.
