Faculty of business studies wins Youth Festival cricket title

DINAJPUR, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) – The Faculty of Business Studies
emerged as the champion of the 3rd Youth Festival Inter-
University Cricket Tournament, defeating the Faculty of
Science by 6 wickets in a thrilling final at Dinajpur Hajee
Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology (HSTU)
today.

The final match, held from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, saw the
Faculty of Business Studies win the toss and choose to bowl
first. The Faculty of Science posted 107 runs for the loss of
4 wickets in 10 overs. The Business Studies team successfully
chased down the target, reaching 110 runs for 4 wickets in
just 7.5 overs.

The Faculty of Business Studies had earlier defeated the
Faculty of Agriculture in the semi-finals to secure their spot
in the final.

Aqib Raja of the Faculty of Business Studies was named the
best player of the tournament, while Saeed, also from the
Faculty of Business Studies, earned the best batsman award.
Tushar from the Faculty of Engineering was honored as the best
bowler.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Vice-
Chancellor of HSTU, Professor Dr. Md. Enamullah, who
congratulated both teams and stressed the importance of sports
in student life. He stated, “Sports enhance productivity and
contribute to the development of a healthy mind and body.
Habiprobye will continue to progress in both sports and
academics. Sports also protect students from the dangers of
drug abuse. I wish both the winner and the runner-up success
in the future.”

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Sikder
was present as a special guest, and the program was presided
over by the Director of the Physical Education Department, Md.
Mahbub ul Hasan. Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Kabir, the
Treasurer of HSTU, also participated in the event.

The competition, part of the university's youth festival,
included all eight faculties of Habiprobye University.
