DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh were put into bat first after United
Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Muhammad Waseem won the toss in the two-match T20
series opening game at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium today.

The match will be Liton Das's first as the permanent captain of Bangladesh
T20 team. The previous captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was in the squad for the
series but didn't find a place in the first XI.

Bangladesh also left out Soumya Sarkar and chose Parvez Hossain Emon in his
place.

"It's not really that different as a player or as a game. How we play the
game is very important to me. Because it's not only this series, we have lots
of games coming up," Liton said after toss.

He revealed that he also would have batted first if he won the toss.

"I would bat first (If we would've won the toss). The wicket looks good. If
we score a little bit bigger, It will be more effective in the second
innings, because the wicket will get slower in the second half, I feel that,"
Liton explained.

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem said his target is to restrict Bangladesh in
between 140 to 150.

"The pitch is looking good, so I think we have not used this pitch for the
last four to five months, so it could be fresh. I think it will help our
bowling," Waseem said.

"So that's why we are taking this decision. We will try to restrict them to a
low total (between 140 to 150). (The boys) recovered well, because we are
used to this condition. So everyone is prepared well."
