DHAKA, May 17, 2025 (BSS) - Opener Parvez Hossain Emon became the only second Bangladesh batter to hit a century in T20 International match after Tamim Iqbal by hitting a record-breaking 54 ball-100 against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the two-match series opening game at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium today.

Thanks to Emon's knock, that laced with five fours and nine sixes Bangladesh posted a hefty 191-7.

The nine sixes by Emon was the highest by a Bangladesh a batter, eclipsing Rishad Hossain's seven against Sri Lanka last year.

Tamim struck 63 ball-103 against Oman in 2016 T20 World Cup and the record stood nine years, before Emon joined him in the century club.

By doing this, Emon became the fastest centurion of Bangladesh, brining up his ton off just 53 balls, by driving Matiullah Khan for a single.

Coincidentally he also bettered Tamim's record to be fastest T20 centurion (42 ball-century) in domestic circuit.

He scored 74 runs in boundaries in his knock, which is also a record, going past Tamim's 70 against Oman.

Just after bringing up his century, he was dismissed by Muhammad Jawadullah in the first ball of the last over.

However he got a touch of luck when he was dismissed by Matiullah Khan on 84 but to his delight, the bowler bowled a no ball by overstepping the crease.

Emon, however, single-handedly drove Bangladesh after his side was put into bat first. His fellow opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was out for 10 and skipper Liton Das, batting at No.3 position was dismissed for 11 but the early departure of the senior duos couldn't distract his concentration.

He kept hitting at his will without much support from the other end as Bangladesh piled on runs to keep UAE bowlers at bay.

The second-best score of Bangladesh came from sundries which were 21. Towhid Hridoy was the other notable scorer with 20.
