DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS)- Opener Ashikur Rahman Shibli hit a brilliant century as Bangladesh Men's Emerging team put them in dominating position on Day 1 of the two-match series opening four-day game against visiting South African Emerging side at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.

At stumps, Bangladesh reached 233-4 with Shibli hitting 104 off 143 with 16 fours and one six.

Skipper Shahadat Hossain Dipu was batting on 42 with Pritom Kumar on 31 after adding 58 runs to their unbeaten fifth wicket stand.

The set duo raised hopes for Bangladesh to make a big total in the first innings.

After Bangladesh opted to bat first, Shibli made a fluent start even though he got little support from his fellow opener Chowdhury M Rizwan who made just 12.

Shibli raised his half-century off just 48 balls before being slowed down to a bit. But he brought up his century with a big six. He, however, was the third batter out but laid a solid platform.
