DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh will keep an eye on the match between
Sri Lanka and Afghanistan as the two sides meet today in the last Group B
fixture of Asia Cup at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Bangladesh had played all of three matches of their group, winning two
against Hong Kong and Afghanistan and losing to Sri Lanka, thus secured four
points.

Sri Lanka are currently the group topper with two wins against Bangladesh and
Hong Kong while Afghanistan played two matches, winning one against Hong Kong
and losing to Bangladesh.

A Sri Lankan victory or an abandoned game will help Bangladesh through to the
Super 4 without any equation. But an Afghan victory will leave Bangladesh and
Sri Lanka in limbo.

Currently Afghanistan have the best run rate with +2.150 while Sri Lanka with
+1.546. Bangladesh have the poor run rate amongst the three teams with -
0.270.

If Afghanistan win today's match, they will move to Super 4, thanks to their
healthy run rate. The run rate will then take care of the fate of Sri Lanka
and Bangladesh. In this case, Sri Lanka are ahead of Bangladesh.

If Afghanistan score 200 after batting first, Sri Lanka need just 128 runs to
confirm the Super 4. If Afghanistan put up 150, Sri Lanka would have to
compile just 84.

If Sri Lanka bat first, and Afghanistan win the game by 11 or 12 overs,
Bangladesh will move to the Super 4, making Sri Lanka's exit.
