China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship begins

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS) - The two-day 7th China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship began today (Saturday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital.

Selim Fakir, Additional Secretary (Sports-1 Division) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, formally inaugurated the meet, organized by the Bangladesh Wushu Federation (BWF).

Prof Yang Qiangquan, Dean of the School of Physical Education of Yunnan Minzu University, Kunming, China, and Kazi Nazrul Islam, Executive Director of the National Sports Council, attended the event as special guests.

BWF President Major General ASM Ridwanur presided over the opening ceremony.

BWF founding General Secretary Dildar Hasan Dilu and Chairman of the Federation's Technical Committee SM Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan also spoke at the inaugural function.

A total of 17 teams, including Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP), and various districts, are participating in the championship.

On the first day, athletes presented various Wushu exercises and demonstrations.

The closing ceremony of the competition will be held tomorrow (Sunday).
