DHAKA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today
appointed former pacer Hasibul Hossain Shanto as the new selector of the
National Cricket Team.
Media and Communications Committee Chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu announced
it after a meeting of the BCB at its headquarters at Sher-e-Bangla National
Cricket Stadium.
Hasibul, who has been the selector of the age-level teams for a long time,
will work with the chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu and Abdur Razzak.
Hasibul indeed replaced Hannan Sarkar who joined coaching, leaving the post
vacant since March.
Popularly known as Shanto, Hasibul spent his playing career as a fast bowler,
and took six wickets in five Tests while grabbing 29 wickets in 32 ODIs for
Bangladesh.
But he is more famous for his winning run against Kenya in the 1997 ICC
Trophy. Hasibul claimed 11 wickets for Bangladesh in that tournament.
Later, he went on to become the member of Bangladesh's first World Cup team
in 1999.
